Though Madame Chiang Kai-Shek was undoubtedly the catalyst and the climax to the American story of Chinese Americans, the Madame Chiang Project seeks to communicate specifically to the Chinese American community in Los Angeles that Soong Mei-Ling is not the complete embodiment of the Los Angeles Chinatown identity.

It is the hopes of the Madame Chiang Project to activate the Chinese American community, as well as other educators and scholars, to take part in the valuable community-based research that will allow these Chinatown residents to effectively communicate with the broader public via the Internet. It is thus the opinion of the Project members that so long as every Chinatown resident of the 1930s and 1940s is not documented through our community history project, the Madame Chiang Project is not truly complete.
